How we make money
Right now, we don't. Family Home Care Guide sells nothing. We don't run ads, use affiliate links, take referral or lead fees, or sell placements, and we don't collect your contact details for agencies. Many senior-care websites are paid by the providers they recommend. We are not.
If that ever changes, we'll say so on this page and on every affected page before it happens, and paid relationships will never affect which agencies we list, their order, or their ratings.
Independence
- We're brand-neutral. Agencies can't pay to be listed, ranked, or removed, or to have their wording changed.
- We don't accept gifts or free services from agencies.
- Agencies are listed in the order of how much we could verify, not by any commercial relationship.
Sourcing
- Each figure links to a source. We prefer primary sources: the CareScout (Genworth) Cost of Care Survey, VA.gov, Texas Health and Human Services, and agencies' own pages.
- Secondary sources are labeled as secondary.
- If we can't verify something, we show TBD rather than guess.
- Each cost and payment guide ends with a Sources list. We open every link to make sure it loads.
Verification & updates
- Google ratings and review counts come from each agency's Google Maps listing, and we show the date we checked them (currently Oct 20, 2026).
- We re-check listings, ratings, and figures monthly and update the "Updated" date on each page.
- See our methodology for how agencies are chosen and left out.
What the "Verified Listing" badge means
Family Home Care Guide Verified Listing
The Family Home Care Guide Verified Listing badge appears only on agencies listed in our guides. It means that, on the date shown in the listing, we:
- found an active Google Maps listing and recorded its rating and review count;
- confirmed a local office or named service area on the agency's own website; and
- checked each service we mark "Yes" (dementia, 24-hour/live-in, respite) against the agency's own page.
It does not mean we endorse, inspect, license, or recommend the agency, or that we've reviewed its care quality, staff, or compliance. It's free, and agencies can't pay for it or request it. We remove the badge if a listing can no longer be verified. Always check a provider's license and references yourself.
